This website is one of our network of ten that are operated
by the Carolina Institute for Conflict Resolution and Creative Leadership
(CICRCL, pronounced “circle”) and based in the mountains near Asheville, North
Carolina. As Co-directors of CICRCL, our mission is providing our readers with
evolutionary resources for shifting their consciousness.
We recognize recognize that parenting children in ways
that truly support the development of a solid sense of Self is challenging. It
often requires parents doing something for their children that they themselves
haven't experienced, which often gives them the feeling of “flying blind.”
So they need really practical and solid information to help them through their
anxieties about “am I doing the best thing for my child?"
This site contains insights into conscious parenting that we’ve learned from our personal experiences as parents, grandparents, mediators, mental health professionals and clinical trainers. We hope that what we share here will help you come away with new tools to help deepen your bond with your child, and new ideas to incorporate into your day-today parenting life.
Parents who wish to avoid traumatizing their children through unconscious episodes of reenacting their own childhood wounds really need outside support. Our perspective on parenting comes from our own experiences of parenting four children between us, and grandparenting four grandchildren. So we personally know the challenges involved in breaking the cycles of traumatic reenactment, and want to support those who are making this effort.
